George's Gyros in Mesa is a casual spot centered on Greek and European-style eats, best known for its hearty gyros and platters. Located on N Country Club Dr, it has the feel of a straightforward, no-frills neighborhood joint where flavor takes priority over decor. The interior and location might not catch your eye at first glance, but the focus here is clearly on delivering satisfying, meat-forward Greek dishes at reasonable prices.

The menu leans heavily on traditional gyro options—lamb, chicken, and beef wrapped in pita, often paired with Greek salad or fries. Generous portions of meat are a consistent draw, making it popular with locals looking for a filling lunch or casual dinner. You’ll find a range of appetizers like falafel, baba ghannouge, and fried zucchini alongside pasta and other Mediterranean-inspired dishes, ensuring there’s something for different tastes.

The atmosphere is relaxed and somewhat busy during lunchtime, with a mix of dine-in guests and a steady stream of carryout customers. Service tends to be attentive and accommodating, with staff open to tweaks like swapping out traditional sauces for hummus or customizing orders. George’s Gyros seems to attract people who appreciate authentic flavors without fuss—those who don’t mind a humble setting as long as the food hits the right notes.

If you’re craving a well-packed gyro or a platter that delivers on meat and tzatziki at a solid value, this is a place to keep in mind. Golden, crisp fries are a common complement, and refreshing sodas round out the meal. Visiting during weekday lunch hours will give you a real sense of the local pace and the steady flow of patrons grabbing food in and out. While it may not be suited for a fancy night out, it serves well as a dependable spot for satisfying Mediterranean classics in the heart of Mesa.

Possibly The Best gyro I've ever had!! I ordered a Cesar chicken gyro and I've got to tell you that was The Best flavoured chicken. Not in a very pretty location but don't be fooled by the appearance.

The gyros were soooo good! Priced just under $10 each, a gyro comes with a Greek salad or fries. While we were here for lunch, it was moderately busy, and we saw several people come and pick up carry-out orders they had called in. Robert (George's brother) was our server. He was very helpful and gave great service. I asked for hummus in my gyro instead of the traditional creamy sauce, and he was super accommodating. We highly recommend George's Gyros. We've been to many other Greek restaurants in the Phoenix area that have a higher-end feel, but George's food stands up in comparison.

I ask for no tomatoes and got tomatoes 1st time customer. 2 nd time I ordered a gyro platter. There isn’t enough meat to make two. It’s the same amount of meat on just the gyro. Thought it would be more with a platter

The gyro’s at George’s Gyros were incredible!! Tons of meat and the perfect amount of tzatziki. I’m not a fry person, but the French fries were perfect! Golden, crispy thin cut fries. The price was exceptional for what you get. We paid $28 for 2 original gyros with fries and a soda. In my experience, that is a great deal! We will definitely be back!! .

I really liked the gyro and the fries! It was literally overflowing with meat and it was dripping sauce as it should. The fries were perfectly crispy outside and soft inside, again how they should be. It may not look the best but it sure tasted the best! You also have a choice of fries or a salad with your plate. Definitely do not pass this place up! Yes it's small with not much seating but the food definitely holds up and the staff are very caring. The only thing I noticed was the tomatoes could have been cut smaller, however that absolutely didn't change my opinion of it. Certainly the best gyro I have had.

This place has a great selection, whether you're looking for Greek food or a good desert or even just a great homemade burger George's doesn't disappoint. Family run, it's a great atmosphere and makes you feel like you got a hometown spot. Price is well worth what you get portion wise. Great spot

I laughed at the generic "best gyros in Arizona" sign outside when I arrived. I laughed again when I left because I found myself agreeing with it. 10/10 would recommend. Best bang for your buck. Loaded with meat, comes with fries. I can't remember another time I left feeling this satisfied with how I spent my money. We had the classic gyro and spicy chicken. Both were excellent. Glad I found this spot.
